COLD AIR INTAKES

COLD AIR INTAKES

The air intake system is essentially the same in all vehicles with minor design differences. Its main function is to deliver clean, cool air to the engine for combustion, which is crucial for performance, efficiency, and engine longevity. Key parts found in most vehicle air intake systems include:

  • Air Filter: Traps dirt, dust, and debris, ensuring only clean air enters the engine.

  • Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor: Measures the amount and quality of air entering the engine so the ECU can balance the air-fuel ratio.

  • Intake Tube/Ducts: Pathways that direct filtered air toward the engine, designed to minimize losses and turbulence.

  • Throttle Body: Controls how much air enters the intake manifold, responding to driver input via the gas pedal.

  • Intake Manifold/Plenum: Distributes air evenly to each engine cylinder for combustion.
